Pediatric Mental Health

Emergency resources:

  • PERT at EMH
Easternshore Crisis Response Number and Resource Help Line: 1-888-407-8018
(Crisis Intervention Team will actually go to residence)
For All Seasons: FAX form and will respond that day
Dorchester General Hospital: Bran Singley (410) 228-5511 Ext.212

There is no guarantee that a patient seen in a crisis will have ongoing therapy and follow up. This frequently depends on the insurance company (remember, Medicaid/SCHIP is “carved out.”)

Evaluation and Management of ongoing Mental Health Issues:
Most pediatricians manage ADHD and ADD medication. Pediatricians are not equipped to manage more severe behavioral problems excepting, on occasion, depression. Situations requiring major tranquilizer (Risperdal, Abilify, etc.) should be managed by psychiatrists.
