Celebrating Life's Roots

He writes prolifically and often about people who give to their community in a quiet yet remarkable way. His articles commence with the early experiences which have had a poignant impact on his character's lives. They evolve as his subjects develop meaningful careers or insights as to their place in the world. That is why Celebrating Life's Roots, results in a poignant and endearing collection of writings by Carlton E. Spitzer. A wonderful book for everyone's library and perfect gift for family or friend, Celebrating Life's Roots has already sold over half of the copies printed in mid-December. Carlton is a long-term advocate for mental health, the Vice President of MHATC, Advisory Board Member of Mid-Shore Mental Health Systems, Talbot County Board of Ethics, and leading member of the newly formed disAbility Coalition.

An MHATC Board Committee produced the book, inspired by fellow Board member, Joe McDonough. Mrs. Evelyn Kirby was the benefactor for the printing, allowing all proceeds to benefit the Mental Health Association's childrens prevention programs. Mrs. Kirby is a long-time friend of Carlton and Joan Spitzer's. Their relationship goes back to the collaborations of Carlton and Mr. Philip Kirby, founder of Talbot Mentors, on several community projects. Ellen Kirby supported her husband in all of his philanthropic efforts, managed summer camps for under privileged children, contributed to hospital modernization, and helped develop a unique Jesuit College in Wheeling, West Virginia.
